Hand Stitches

     Whip Stitch / Overcasting
for Mending & Hand Sewing

The Whip Stitch / Overcasting Stitch is used to finish a seam to prevent fraying.

It is a good choice to mend seams that have become badly frayed. Just start at one end of the area that is frayed and whip stitch over all the frayed area and it will prevent more fraying.

You start the overcasting stitch at one end by stitching over the edge of the fabric repeatedly.
