Beading Techniques

Singel Bead Edge

Beads Add Sparkle & Weight to Chiffon Fabrics

Single Bead Edge

Single Bead Edgings are used in classic garments, like the costumes in Downton Abbey to add decoration to the edges of draped chiffon fabrics.

Sometimes beads are used, sometimes a single pearl.

This is a project that I added a single bead edging to add a little sparkle to a top that I've owned for some time.

To Start, bring your needle up through the folded edge of the fabric from the inside of the fold. Thread a bead through your needle. Stitch back down a tiny bit over from the start of the stitch bring it back out the distance that you wish the beads to be separated. It helps to try some samples for your project to make sure you are achieving the desired effect.

This project the beads are 1/4" apart.

Beaded Christmas Tree Ornament

This is an example of a Christmas Tree Ornament with single beads placed 1/8" apart.

It looks completely different than the spaced edging on the orange blouse.
