Snowflakes are very limp, without a stiffener. My favourite is the the old fashioned sugar & water mixture. This makes the crochet snow flake rock hard and gives it a slightly translucent white almost sparkly apperance. It is a little sticky to work with but I've explained the procedure on the page for crochet stiffeners. Once you've got it down it not a big deal. A lot of the finished shape of the crochet snowflake is created by the way you mold with your fingers and pin it in place.

Christmas Tree Ornaments

Work 10ch. Join into a circle with ss into first ch.

1st. Round

4ch, (1tr into ring, 1ch) 11 times, ss into 3rd. if 4ch.

1st. Row

13ch, 1tr into 4th ch from hook, placing hook round length of ch for each st work 12tr over ch, *1tr into next 1ch sp on first round, 7ch, turn.

2nd. Row

1tr into 7th tr of previous row,(1ch, miss 1tr, 1 tr into next tr)3 times, 4ch, turn.

3rd. Row

(1tr into next 1ch sp, 1 ch) 3 times, 13tr into 7ch loop.
Repeat from * 10 more times.
ss into 3rd. of first 13ch, turn, ss across each of first 7tr of previous row. 3 ch, ss into base of turning ch at outer edge of first row, (1ch, miss 1tr, 1tr into next tr) 3 times, 4ch, turn (1tr into next 1ch sp, 1ch) 3 times, ss into top of turning ch at outer edge of first.

Cut cotton, slip end through and darn ends invisibly into work.
