Snowflakes are very limp, without a stiffener. My favourite is the the old fashioned sugar & water mixture. This makes the crochet snow flake rock hard and gives it a slightly translucent white almost sparkly apperance. It is a little sticky to work with but I've explained the procedure on the page for crochet stiffeners. Once you've got it down it not a big deal. A lot of the finished shape of the crochet snowflake is created by the way you mold with your fingers and pin it in place.

Crochet Snowflake 3

Work, 18ch. Join into a circle with ss into first ch.

1st. Round

2ch, 23dc into circle, ss into 2nd of the first 2ch

2nd. Round

10ch, 1dc into 3rd dc(previous row) *8ch, 1dc into 3rd dc(previous row)

Repeat from * 6 times. 8ch, ss into 2nd ch of the first 10 ch.

3rd. Round

ss into next 3ch, *6ch, 1dc into first loop, 8ch, 1dc into next loop Repeat from * 6 more times. 6ch, 1dc into same loop, 8ch, ss into 1st chain at the beginning of the row.

4th. Round

3ch, dc into top of small loop *3dtr into next large loop, 6ch, 3dtr into same large loop, 1dc into next small loop. Repeat from * 6 more times. 3dtr into next large loop, 6ch, 2dtr into last small loop. ss into first dc.

5th. Round

*5ch, 1tr, 2dtr, 5ch, 2dtr, 1tr, 5ch, ss into stitch between the tr clusters in previous row. Repeat from * 7 more times. After last ss, cut cotton, slip end through and darn ends invisibly into work.
