Snowflakes are very limp, without a stiffener. My favourite is the the old fashioned sugar & water mixture. This makes the crochet snow flake rock hard and gives it a slightly translucent white almost sparkly apperance. It is a little sticky to work with but I've explained the procedure on the page for crochet stiffeners. Once you've got it down it not a big deal. A lot of the finished shape of the crochet snowflake is created by the way you mold with your fingers and pin it in place.

Crochet Snowflake #19

Work 6ch. Join into a circle with ss into first ch.

1st. Round

5ch, (1dtr, 2ch) 11 times, ss into 3rd of first 5ch

2nd. Round

1ch, (1dc into next loop, 5ch, ss into 2nd of 5ch, 4ch, ss into same 2nd of 5ch, 4ch, ss into same 2nd pf 5ch, 1ch, 1dc into same loop)--called small cloverleaf--

(1dc into next loop, 8ch, ss into 5th of 8ch, 7ch, ss into 4th of 7ch, 7ch, ss into 4th of 7ch, 4ch, ss into same 4th of 7ch, 4ch, ss into same 4th of 7ch, 3ch, ss into picot on other side, 4ch, ss into same spot, 3ch, ss into picot on other side, 4ch, ss into same spot, 4ch, 1dc into starting loop)--called large cloverleaf--, *1 small cloverleaf in next loop, 1 large cloverleaf in next loop. Repeat from * 4 more times, ss into first 1ch.

Cut cotton, slip end through and darn ends invisibly into work.
