Snowflakes are very limp, without a stiffener. My favourite is the the old fashioned sugar & water mixture. This makes the crochet snow flake rock hard and gives it a slightly translucent white almost sparkly apperance. It is a little sticky to work with but I've explained the procedure on the page for crochet stiffeners. Once you've got it down it not a big deal. A lot of the finished shape of the crochet snowflake is created by the way you mold with your fingers and pin it in place.

Crochet Snowflake #15

Work, 8ch. Join into a circle with ss into first ch.

1st. Round

3ch, 1dtr, 16ch, (2dtr, 16ch) 5 more times, ss into 3rd of first 3ch.

2nd. Round

*1dc between 2dtr,
(7ch, ss into 2nd of 7ch, 5ch, ss into 1st ss in cloverleaf, 5ch, ss into same 1st ss in cloverleaf again. 2 ss into first 2ch of 7ch) 1dc between same 2dtr.

(8dc into first loop, 10ch, ss into 2nd of 10ch,
8ch, ss into 1st of 8ch,
8ch, ss into 1st of 8ch, ss into opposite start of loop on other side,
8 ch, ss into 1st ss of loop, ss into opposite start of the matching loop on the opposite side,
8 ch, ss into 1st ss of loop, ss into opposite start of the matching loop on the opposite side,
2ss into next 2ch,
8dc into same loop)
 
Repeat from * 5 more times, ss into 1st. dc to finish.

Cut cotton, slip end through and darn ends invisibly into work.
