This is another of those projects that I learned to make in Grade II as party decorations. I was always a little facinated with structural kinds of projects. But then I was the only kid I knew that looked for the pattern repeats in print fabrics. I discovered my first one in the curtains in my bedroom as a child.
This lantern started with a piece of Fun Foam 5" X 5 1/2". There are 10 cuts 1/2" apart making 11 verticle strips.(Makes the 5 1/2")
Of course, the real fun starts with a whole bunch of Glitter Glue.
I just started with a bunch of silver squiggly lines and added bits of coloured dots until I was satisfied.
After the whole thing was dry, I used a couple of stitchs at each end to hold the lantern in a tube shape.
Then added a line of grey thread to pull the two ends of the tube together and create the bulge.
I did massage the fun foam a little to get it to form nice curves instead of bumpy folds.
